The Mayan legacy to design and architecture

Architects are reviving an ancient Mayan stucco technique

Chukum is an excellent option for renovating a space, highlighting the beauty of any design with its organic texture.

Our Chukum has its origins in the Mayan culture, it was formerly used to produce stuccos and paintings that served as recovery in areas such as cisterns or outdoor water tanks; as it is a natural waterproofing agent and reduces cracking. Currently, it is used in swimming pools, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, etc., by many world-renowned architects. It is an incredible product for your spaces with design and very durable.

Chukum is a semi-hardwood thorny tree

native to the Yucatan Peninsula

To create Chukum Tulum stucco, the bark of the tree is boiled twice and then mixed with white cement and limestone, after which it can be used as a finish on concrete walls or even swimming pools. Chukum bark gives stucco its water-resistant quality, distinguishing it from other types of stucco that must be coated with artificial additives or finishes to achieve the same level of impenetrability. For this reason, it can be used both indoors and outdoors. Chukum bark also naturally gives stucco its earthy, pinkish color, creating warm, rustic atmospheres for Yucatan buildings and homes.

Currently, we have a presence throughout Mexico and the United States. You can request more information at the following email address: sales@chukumtulum.us
